Angkor Archaeological Park Welcomes Nearly 400,000 Foreign Tourists in First Quarter

AKP Phnom Penh, April 02, 2025 --

Angkor Archaeological Park, Cambodia’s most renowned tourist destination, welcomed approximately 398,531 foreign visitors between January and March 2025, marking a 14.67 percent increase compared to the same period last year, pointed out a report from Angkor Enterprise.

Revenue from Angkor entrance pass sales to foreign visitors rose by 13.22 percent, reaching US$18.71 million, the report stated. In March alone, 118,927 international tourists visited the park, generating US$5.55 million in entrance ticket sales.

H.E. Ms. Hun Dany, Secretary of State and Spokeswoman for the Ministry of Tourism, attributed the rise in foreign visitors to successful tourism promotion efforts and enhanced convenience for international travelers.

“The increase in foreign tourists is a positive result of cooperation between the government and the private sector in promoting Cambodia’s tourism potential,” she said.

To further facilitate international tourism, the government launched in January the Angkor ticketing system and ticket inspection reform system in January. This initiative provides more options for foreign tourists and travel agencies to purchase entrance tickets, making visits to the ancient temples more accessible.

Located in northwest Siem Reap province, the 401-square-kilometre Angkor Archaeological Park is home to 91 ancient temples, constructed between the 9th and 13th centuries. The park was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1992 and remains Cambodia’s most visited tourist attraction.

In 2024, Angkor Archaeological Park welcomed a total of 1.02 million international visitors, generating US$47.8 million in revenue from ticket sales, according to Angkor Enterprise.
