Cambodia’s Ambassadors to 10 Countries Commit to Promoting Tourism and Attracting Visitors to Cambodia

On the morning of January 27, 2025, at the Ministry of Tourism, H.E. Hor Hak, Minister of Tourism, welcomed H.E. Chea Chanboribo, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Cambodia to Bulgaria, Romania, Greece, and Cyprus; Lok Chumteav Kim Sour Sovanary, Ambassador to Belgium, Austria, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and the European Union; H.E. Chhay Ratha, Ambassador to Brunei; and H.E. Sin Sarim, Ambassador to the Philippines, for a courtesy meeting and discussions.

The meeting focused on strengthening efforts to attract tourists from key countries to Cambodia. The Minister also briefed the ambassadors on the Cambodian government’s new tourism policies, including reductions in e-Visa fees effective January 1, 2025:

• Type T Visa: Reduced from $36 to $30

• Type E Visa: Reduced from $42 to $35

Additionally, the meeting emphasized the importance of cooperation with foreign embassies and consulates in Cambodia, development partners, Cambodian embassies and consulates abroad, as well as bilateral, multilateral, regional (ASEAN), and global collaborations to promote Cambodia as a top tourist destination.

As an outcome of the meeting, the Minister urged the ambassadors to release statements or videos showcasing the reality in Cambodia—highlighting peace, security, and public order—while also addressing negative and false information that could impact Cambodia’s reputation and tourism sector.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Tourism will provide brochures, leaflets, and promotional videos to support the ambassadors’ efforts, as well as facilitate connections between them and key tourism sector stakeholders in their respective countries, including tourism associations, tour operators, travel agencies, tour guides, and airlines. Business matching events, familiarization (FAM) trips, and other promotional activities will also be organized to further boost Cambodia’s tourism industry.
