Cambodia Sees 1.96 million Air Travellers in Q1

Cambodia’s airports have received a combined 1.96 million air travellers in the first quarter of 2025, a year-on-year increase of 19 percent, a report from the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA) showed on April 26.

The country’s three international airports handled 17,434 flights of international and domestic airlines during the January-March period this year, up 19 percent compared to the same period last year.

The airports also recorded a 10 percent surge in air cargo volume to 17,147 tonnes, read the report.

SSCA has projected that the Kingdom would receive 7.5 million air passengers in 2025, an expected rise of 20 percent from 6.24 million in 2024.

H.E. Sinn Chanserey Vutha, SSCA’s Secretary of State and spokesman said that the growth in foreign tourist arrivals, influx of foreign investors and businessmen, enhanced facilities — airports, and air connection to major destinations — are factors of the projection.

“The projection of 7.5 million air passengers this year is made from the good results of the increasing number of foreign tourists, increasing foreign investors, particularly enhancing airport facilities which enable to facilitate passenger travels and air connection to major destinations,” he said.

The three international airports currently connect international flights to 12 countries with a total of 34 destinations or capitals/cities in the region and the world, by 31 national and international airlines.

New flights have been announced this year connecting international destinations to Cambodia, including Turkish Airlines from Istanbul to Phnom Penh, Etihad Airways from Abu Dhabi to Phnom Penh, and Emirates Airlines from Dubai to Siem Reap.
