Cambodian Defence Minister and U.S. Defence Attaché Discuss Strengthening Military Ties

Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence, H.E. General Tea Seiha, met here recently with U.S. Defence Attaché Lieutenant Colonel Kyle Saltzman, where they discussed enhancing bilateral military cooperation.
The meeting, which included New Year’s greetings for the Khmer Traditional New Year, focused on strengthening defence relations between the two nations.
General Tea Seiha expressed appreciation for the U.S. government's ongoing engagement with Cambodia, noting the frequent visits by U.S. military officials. He conveyed Cambodia's commitment to deepening cooperation with the U.S., expressing optimism for continued growth in military collaboration throughout 2025 and beyond.
In reply, Lieutenant Colonel Saltzman acknowledged Cambodia's support and hospitality towards U.S. military delegations, highlighting past U.S. naval visits. He reaffirmed his dedication to strengthening U.S.-Cambodia defense relations and indicated that further visits from U.S. military officials are planned.
Both parties emphasised the importance of sustained collaboration, particularly through the Cambodian General Department of Policy and Foreign Affairs, which will work closely with U.S. counterparts. H.E. General Tea Seiha also expressed his desire for increased high-level engagements through official visits and participation in international defence forums.
In addition, H.E. General Tea Seiha extended his best wishes to Lieutenant Colonel Saltzman and the U.S. Embassy staff, inviting them to attend Angkor Sankranta, a major Khmer New Year celebration in Siem Reap.
