CAMBODIAN HUMAN RIGHTS CONDEMNS THAI MILITARY'S "BRUTAL AND LAWLESS" ATTACKS
December 8, 2025 — The Cambodian Human Rights Committee (CHRC) has strongly condemned recent Thai military attacks on Cambodian forces and civilians along the Cambodia-Thailand border on December 7–8, 2025, describing the actions as brutal, lawless, and a serious violation of human rights.
According to the CHRC, major international media outlets, including CNN, BBC, Al Jazeera, Reuters, and The Guardian, reported that Thai forces repeatedly attacked Cambodian troops and civilian communities, causing deaths and serious injuries.
The use of heavy weaponry, including F-16 fighter jets and toxic gas, violates the United Nations Charter, ASEAN Charter, international human rights law, international humanitarian law, ceasefire agreements, and the Joint Declaration between Cambodia and Thailand signed in Kuala Lumpur in the presence of U.S. President Donald J. Trump and Malaysian Prime Minister and ASEAN Chair Anwar Ibrahim.
The CHRC called on the international and regional communities to condemn Thailand, demand an immediate halt to these acts, and hold Thailand fully accountable under international law. It emphasized that human rights and civilian protection must be respected at all times.
Cambodia reaffirmed its commitment to upholding all ceasefire and peace agreements, resolving conflicts peacefully, and seeking fair and sustainable solutions for all issues.
