The Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC) has cast doubt on Thai claims that Cambodian forces laid new mines inside territory.
Heng Ratana, CMAC’s general director, explained that the PMN-2 mines presented as “evidence” by Thailand would not pose a threat as their arming pins had not been removed.
“If these mines were laid with the intention of doing harm, the pins must be removed for the mine to become armed and functional,” he said.
