Defence Ministry Rejects Thai Media Claims of Control Over Two Cambodian Sites

The Ministry of National Defence of the Kingdom of Cambodia has firmly rejected claims by some Thai media outlets that the Thai military has taken control of Wat Keo Sekha Kirisvarak and the Preah Vihear Temple, both located on Cambodian territory.

“These reports are completely false and were fabricated to mislead the public,” stated Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defence, at a press briefing this morning.

She reaffirmed that Cambodian forces continue to maintain full control over both sites, which lie well within Cambodia’s sovereign borders.

Lt. Gen. Socheata further revealed that Thai troops attempted to seize control of the Ta Krabey temple complex earlier this morning. However, she stressed that Cambodian soldiers stood firm and successfully defended the site.

She reiterated the unwavering commitment of the Cambodian armed forces to safeguard the nation’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and its people.
