BANGKOK, Aug. 19 — Experts have dismissed videos and photographs released by the Thai military that allegedly show Cambodian soldiers laying landmines along the border, calling the material staged.
Analysts said covert mine-laying would not be filmed or carried out in such a coordinated manner. They added that Khmer-speaking individuals from Thailand’s Surin region could easily pose as Cambodian soldiers, while military uniforms and insignia are readily available on local markets.
The latest footage follows an earlier release that also drew skepticism. Observers say the staged scenes appear aimed at producing images for media circulation and public accusation.
