Japan Supports Cambodia with 29 Infectious Waste Incinerators

AKP Phnom Penh, January 24, 2025 --

The Government of Japan has handed over 29 infectious waste incinerators, as part of its Project for Improvement of Infectious Waste Management, to the Cambodian Ministry of Health.

Cambodian Minister of Health H.E. Prof. Chheang Ra and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Cambodia H.E. Ueno Atsushi chaired the symbolic handover event at the ministry on Jan. 22.

H.E. Prof. Chheang Ra thanked the people and government of Japan as well as the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for the infectious waste incinerators, which are important in enhancing Cambodia's health infrastructure and the environment of hospitals in the country.

The facilities will reduce hospital infections, increase treatment effectiveness, reduce drug-resistant bacteria, and shorten the length of hospital stays, he said.
