AKP Phnom Penh, July 13, 2025-—
H.E. Neth Pheaktra, Minister of Information and his spouse, along with the ministry’s leaders and officials, held a drum-beating ceremony today to celebrate the inclusion of “Cambodia’s Memory Sites: From Sites of Atrocities to Centers of Reconciliation and Peace” in UNESCO’s World Heritage List.
The celebration took place at the Ministry of Information headquarters this morning, following the official announcement of the listing by UNESCO on July 11, 2025, in France.
The “Cambodia’s Memory Sites: From Sites of Atrocities to Centers of Reconciliation and Peace” consist of three locations: Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S-21), Choeung Ek Genocidal Center, and the former Security Centre (M-13).
These sites stand as a testament to Cambodia’s painful past while symbolizing the nation’s commitment to remembrance, reconciliation, and peace for future generations.
