National Assembly President Urges New Ambassadors Abroad to Uphold National Honor and Ensure Cambodia’s Sovereignty

The President of the National Assembly has urged newly appointed Cambodian Ambassadors to fulfill their roles and responsibilities in safeguarding the nation’s honor to ensure Cambodia’s sovereignty.

This request was made on February 10, 2025, during an official meeting where Samdech Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly, granted an audience to four newly appointed ambassadors before their departure for diplomatic missions abroad.

On this occasion, the National Assembly President warmly welcomed the presence of the four newly appointed ambassadors at the National Assembly, acknowledging their upcoming mission of great importance to the nation.

Samdech emphasized that ambassadors do not merely represent the Ministry of Foreign Affairs but also stand as representatives of the nation, the King, and the Cambodian people as a whole. Therefore, diplomatic missions must serve the country’s best interests and enhance Cambodia’s prestige on the international stage.

She further highlighted that diplomats are at the forefront of Cambodia’s international presence, playing a crucial role in complementing domestic efforts by safeguarding and promoting national identity, economic growth, and national stability.

To achieve these goals, she stressed the necessity of diplomatic officials possessing strong capabilities in coordinating state diplomacy, parliamentary diplomacy, and other forms such as economic and people-to-people diplomacy.

Additionally, Samdech underscored that ambassadors are also responsible for the well-being of Cambodian citizens residing, studying, or working in their respective host countries. She encouraged them to maintain close connections with the Cambodian community, uphold national identity, and promote the country’s rich culture and traditions abroad.

On behalf of the four newly appointed ambassadors, H.E. Chea Chanboribo expressed deep gratitude to the National Assembly President for the opportunity to meet and receive valuable guidance. He affirmed their strong commitment to serving the people and the nation, fulfilling the high trust placed in them by the country's leadership, including the Prime Minister, the Senate President, and the National Assembly President.
