Number of Factories and Enterprises Continues to Increase in H1

The Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training has released an updated report on the number of factories, enterprises, and establishments registered in the first six months of 2025.


According to the report, the number of enterprises and establishments registered with the ministry increased from 44,798 at the end of 2024 to 45,656 as of mid-2025—up 858.


The number of factories and enterprises in the garment sector rose by 116, from 1,566 at the end of 2024 to 1,682 as of the end of June.


Meanwhile, the number of factories and enterprises in the non-garment sector climbed to 43,974 during the first half of this year, up by 742 from 43,232 at the end of 2024.


The garment, footwear, and travel goods industry remains Cambodia’s largest source of foreign exchange. The sector employs nearly one million workers, the majority of whom are women.


Cambodia exported garment, footwear, and travel goods worth US$7.38 billion in the first half of 2025, up 22 percent from US$6.02 billion during the same period in 2024, according to a report from the General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia.


At the same time, the Kingdom imported US$3.48 billion worth of raw materials for the garment sector—an increase of 21.43 percent year-on-year from US$3.1 billion in the first half of 2024.
