Royal Government Mobilises Resources to Address Citizens’ Hardship

Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet has stressed that the Royal Government fully understands the hardship and suffering faced by the people, particularly those living in border areas, therefore Cambodian authorities have continued to pay close attention to their needs, providing relief and solutions in the short, medium, and long term.

In a special statement broadcast live this evening, the Prime Minister said the Royal Government has mobilised all available resources and capacities – together with relevant institutions, friendly countries, national and international organisations, development partners, and the private sector – to alleviate suffering and address challenges in both the immediate and longer terms.

Under these circumstances, Samdech Thipadei outlined several key measures. For displaced persons, relevant ministries and institutions are coordinating efforts to facilitate a safe and timely return to their places of origin.

The Prime Minister expressed his appreciation to the banking and financial sector for helping ease the financial burdens of families of fallen and wounded frontline soldiers, as well as displaced families, during this difficult period. He also encouraged them to consider additional support measures for affected citizens, within their capacity.

For displaced families who are not yet able to return home, relevant authorities are strengthening temporary shelters or, where necessary, relocating them to more suitable locations. The Royal Government reaffirmed its commitment to continue providing assistance based on actual needs until all affected citizens can safely return to their communities.

According to the Ministry of Interior, as of the morning of Jan. 10, approximately 480,000 displaced persons have returned home, while 167,226 people remain in displacement camps.
