Takeo authorities are gearing up for the upcoming River Festival, aimed at attracting tourists with a variety of artistic performances and entertainment.
The festival will take place from Friday to Sunday at Takeo Lakeside Park in Daun Keo City.
Huot Hak, the Minister of Tourism, yesterday held a meeting with Takeo Provincial Governor Vei Samnang to review the progress of preparations for the 9th River Festival 2025.
On Saturday, Samnang also conducted an on-site inspection of the festival location at Takeo Lakeside Park.
During the inspection, Samnang directed relevant authorities, particularly experts, to expedite preparations for the event.
He emphasised the importance of ensuring the site is safe, clean, hygienic, and visually appealing, expressing pride in Takeo province for hosting such a significant national event.
The Ministry of Tourism and Takeo Provincial Administration have also arranged 10 different sports activities for public participation, including cycling (a 75-kilometre route from Phnom Penh to Takeo), running (with 1,200 participants), chess, volleyball, canoeing, kayaking, and Kun Khmer boxing.
Takeo is renowned for its numerous attractions, including ancient temples, historical sites, and its famous silk weaving and scarf handicrafts.
The province is also known for its rich agricultural resources, including rice, as well as specialty products such as freshwater lobsters and duck eggs. These offerings make Takeo an increasingly popular destination for tourists.
