BANTEAY MEANCHEY — Displaced students from two primary schools in O’Bei Choan commune began classes this week at the Chan Si Ratanaram pagoda after their schools were destroyed by Thai shelling.
The pagoda, located in O’Chrov district, now shelters more than 1,000 families from Chouk Chey and Prey Chan villages. Residents remain unable to return home due to Thai-installed barriers and continuing security concerns.
On their first day of lessons, the children received dolls and snacks from local authorities and partner organizations, gestures intended to provide comfort as they resume their education in temporary learning spaces.
